On 23rd December, 2021, just before Christmas, Mr. Li Tie, the President of the Zambia Council for Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification of China (ZCPPNRC), led a team to visit the first permanent representative to the United Nations and the honorary president of the Zambia Association for the Promotion of Unification Mr. Vernon Mwaanga, the founding president of the council Mr. Li Weixiang, and the consultant of the council Mr. Sebastian Kopulande, to express gratitude best wishes to them. The Executive Chairman, Chairman of Supervisors, Vice Chairman, Executive Vice Chairman and Secretary General of Zambia Union Promotion Committee participated in the visit.
Mr.Vernon Mwaanga served as Zambia’s first permanent representative to the United Nations from 1968 to 1972, and twice as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Zambia. In 1971, he fully supported China to restore its lawful seat in the United Nations and made the speech to the celebration on behalf of Africa in the United Nations. Mr. Mwaanga visited China many times and was received by Chairman Mao Zedong and Premier Zhou Enlai. He introduced the development experience of China to the people of Zambia. He is one of the founders and promoters of the friendship between China and Zambia.
Li Weixiang, founding chairman and life-long chairman of the Zambia Council for Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification of China, has made important contributions to promoting the friendship between China and Zambia to protect the rights and interests of overseas Chinese for a long time. He also promotes the peaceful reunification of China and deepens the mutual understanding and friendship between China and Zambia.
Honorary consultant to the Zambia Council for Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification of China, former special assistant to the president, and former member of Congress Mr. Sebastian Kopulande is the President of the Zambia-China Business and Friendship Association. He made suggestions and provided a lot of support and assistance to the development of the council.
Zambia will continue to follow the road of friendship between China and Zambia laid by the older generations, continue to move forward, and make new contributions to the advancement of the friendship between China and Zambia and the peaceful reunification of China.
