Chinese Embassy in Zambia Highly Attentive to Zambia's First Soybean Shipment to China

The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Zambia posted on its official social media account, introducing the departure of Zambia's first batch of approximately 120 tonnes of soybeans and describing it as an important milestone in bilateral agricultural trade.

The Embassy stated that China's zero-tariff policy has created favorable conditions for Zambian agricultural products to enter the Chinese market, and both sides will continue to deepen agricultural cooperation.

Ministry of Agriculture (Zambia) and UPND Zambia to This Export

Ministry of Agriculture (Zambia) posted information on its official social media account titled "Zambia's First Soybean Shipment to China Departs," accompanied by photos of the farm container loading and dispatch scene.

The UPND posted on the "UPND Zambia" social media account, introducing the departure of approximately 120 tonnes of soybeans from CAMCO Demonstration Farms in Serenje to China. It regarded this export as important progress in Zambia's agricultural trade and a concrete practice of the "Grow Zambia" agenda. The post noted that this export demonstrates Zambia's capacity to connect local production with international markets and reflects the role of agriculture in exports, foreign exchange earnings, and economic growth.

From Field Production to Export Dispatch

The sowing, field management, harvesting, and storage of this batch of soybeans were all completed by CAMCO Demonstration Farms.

To prepare for the first shipment to China, the Group's agricultural team organized production and testing in accordance with Chinese quality requirements, handled relevant registration and export permits, cooperated with the Zambian Plant Quarantine and Phytosanitary Service for on-site inspection, commissioned a registered fumigation agency to complete fumigation, and prepared relevant documents including phytosanitary certificates and certificates of origin.

In early October, five container trucks successively entered the farm, and the team completed soybean container loading and door reinforcement. After dispatch, the cargo will be transported by land to a Tanzanian port, then shipped to China by sea.

Dispatch Is Just the Beginning

Zambia has proposed achieving an annual soybean production of 3 million tonnes by 2031. China is an important soybean import market, and Zambian soybean exports to China have expanded new cooperation space for agricultural trade between the two countries.

For CAMCO, this batch of soybean dispatch is a practice in connecting farm production with export operations. The team has accumulated experience in quality standard alignment, inspection and quarantine, export procedures, and logistics organization, providing a reference for subsequent export batches.

Next, CAMCO Demonstration Farms Ltd. will continue to follow up on transportation and port delivery, and on the basis of summarizing the first export experience, steadily advance planting and export operations, contributing to local employment and China-Zambia agricultural cooperation.

Acknowledgments!

Thanks to the Ministry of Agriculture (Zambia), the Zambia Revenue Authority, ZRA, and other government departments, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Zambia, and partners for their full support. Thanks to the Chinese and Zambian employees on the farm for their unremitting efforts and hard work!
