2025.10.29

NAIROBI, KENYA – September 11, 2025 – In a significant move to boost food security and agricultural productivity in the Rift Valley, CAMCO Equipment (Kenya) Ltd. has entered into a strategic partnership with the County Government of West Pokot. The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), aims to provide local farmers with increased access to modern machinery and essential technical support.

The agreement was signed at CAMCO's Nairobi showroom during a high-level meeting with a delegation from West Pokot, led by Governor H.E. Simon Kachapin. The visit followed a prior meeting in West Pokot, where CAMCO-Kenya’s General Manager, Andy He, and Nakuru Branch Manager, Amos Wekesa, among other people from CAMCO and the county met and deliberated on how to enhance the county's agricultural sector, with CAMCO coming in both for provision of machinery and imparting knowledge on best practices.

A New Chapter for West Pokot Farmers

During the Nairobi meeting, the West Pokot delegation was given a tour of CAMCO's extensive range of agricultural machinery. The CAMCO-Kenya’s General Manager Andy He and his team presented tailored solutions designed to address the specific challenges faced by farmers in the region.

The discussion focused on durable and efficient equipment suitable for the local terrain. Among the solutions proposed were LOVOL combine harvesters and tractors, known for their reliability and strength. For rice and other cereal farmers, FM WORLD Combine Harvesters were highlighted as a perfect solution to reduce post-harvest losses, and time wastage during this important process in farming. Additionally, WEICHAI generators were presented as a vital component for supporting irrigation projects and ensuring a steady power supply.

Governor Kachapin expressed his gratitude to CAMCO for its commitment to supporting farmers. "This partnership is a critical step in our transition from subsistence to commercial farming," he stated.

Financial Empowerment and Future Vision

In a strong show of commitment, the West Pokot County government pledged to empower farmers to invest in this new technology. The county will work with relevant government agencies to create financial avenues, making it easier for farmers to acquire equipment.

"We intend to purchase several tractors as a county to help carry out our activities," Governor Kachapin said. "We will also cooperate with some cooperative groups to help them acquire agricultural machinery."

The county leadership also urged CAMCO to increase its presence in the region to ensure farmers have access to timely technical support and spare parts. This collaboration is expected to significantly increase West Pokot's contribution to national food security.

"We are incredibly optimistic about this partnership with West Pokot County," said CAMCO-Kenya's General Manager, Andy He. "The leadership here has a clear vision for agricultural development, and we are committed to providing the machinery and expertise to help make that vision a reality."

This agreement marks a major milestone in CAMCO's mission to empower farmers across Kenya, promising a long and fruitful partnership with the people of West Pokot.
