Agency to Build a New Bridge for China-Zambia Economic and Trade Cooperation
On the afternoon of 13th June, 2025, the 2025 CAETE China-Zambia Economic, Trade & Investment Cooperation Forum with the theme of "Complementary Advantages, Win-Win Cooperation", co-organized by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Zambia (CCCZ) and the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) was grandly held at the China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Innovation Demonstration Park in Changsha, Hunan Province. Guests attending the Forum included Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry of Zambia, Hon. Chipoka Mulenga MP, Ambassador of Zambia to China, H.E. Mr. Iven Zyuulu, Director General of Zambia Development Agency, Mr. Albert Halwampa and many other senior Zambian officials; Party Secretary and President of the Hunan Provincial Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Ms. Yang Aiyun, Mayor of Chenzhou Municipal People's Government, Mr. Kan Baoyong, Vice Chairperson of the Changsha Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Ms. Liu Jinwen, Vice Chairperson and Member of the Party Leadership Group of the Hunan Provincial Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Ms. Peng Di, Standing Committee Member, Director of General Office, and Secretary of Working Committee for District-Level Agencies, CPC Yuhua District Committee, Mr. Cai Zemin, and President of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Zambia, Mr. Li Tie and many other Chinese guests. In addition, there were about 400 people present, including leaders from Changsha Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Chenzhou Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Chenzhou Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, People's Government of Yuhua District, Yuhua Management Committee of Changsha Area, Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone, and representatives of Zambian and Chinese enterprises and media. Mr. Shen Yaolin, Secretary-General of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Zambia, hosted the event.
Leverage the bridging role of overseas Chinese business communities to establish efficient cooperation platforms
As a co-organizer, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Zambia leveraged the bridging role of overseas Chinese business communities to facilitate engagement between Chinese and Zambian governments and enterprises, culminating in multiple strategic partnerships. Mr. Li Tie, president of the Chamber, emphasized in his address: "The Chamber remains committed to serving the China-Zambia economic and trade cooperation, assisting Chinese enterprises in navigating Zambia's investment landscape while enabling Zambian businesses to access market resources in China. The successful holding of this forum will further deepen the cooperation between the two countries across mining, agriculture, manufacturing, and tourism sectors, and achieve mutual benefits and win-win results."
Government-Enterprise Synergy to Jointly Promote China-Zambia Investment Facilitation
During the event, senior Zambian officials including Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry Chipoka Mulenga, Ambassador of Zambia to China Iven Zyuulu, introduced in detail Zambia's investment policies, business environment and key development sectors, welcoming more Chinese enterprises to invest in Zambia. Representatives from Hunan Provincial Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Hunan Provincial Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, and local governments also shared Hunan's experience and opportunities in Africa-oriented cooperation, forming an efficient cooperation model of "government guidance + business associations’ facilitation + enterprise implementation".
With the active promotion of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Zambia, the forum facilitated several important signings: Hunan Provincial Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT Hunan) and Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) solemnly signed a strategic cooperation agreement; Hunan Provincial Overseas Chinese Business Federation, Hunan Provincial Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT Hunan), Hunan Foreign Trade Building, and Hunan Business Africa Big Data Industrial Development Co., Ltd. respectively signed strategic cooperation agreements with the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Zambia; meanwhile, Hunan Yuchen International Trade Co., Ltd. and CAMCO Mining (Zambia) Co., Ltd. reached a China-Zambia nonferrous metals industry strategic cooperation agreement, establishing an innovative cooperation mechanism centered on "comprehensive cooperation, channel synergy, and mutual development win-win" to jointly explore opportunities in Zambia's mineral resources development and trade, with both parties striving to build a benchmark project for China-Africa economic and trade cooperation.
Precise Matching to Help Enterprises Seize African Opportunities
To enhance the effectiveness of cooperation, the event featured thematic presentations, government-enterprise dialogues and industry matchmaking sessions, covering Zambia's key development industries such as mining, agriculture, manufacturing and tourism. Mr. Shen Yaolin, Secretary-General of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Zambia, served as the host to ensure efficient communication between Chinese and Zambian enterprises. The forum utilized simultaneous interpretation in Chinese and English, and arranged one-on-one business meetings to help Chinese enterprises precisely match with the Zambian market.
Looking Ahead: Deepening Cooperation to Jointly Chart a New Blueprint for China-Zambia Economic and Trade Ties
This Forum served as an important supporting event of the fourth China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE), and another milestone effort by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Zambia in advancing China-Africa economic and trade cooperation. Moving forward, the Chamber will continue to leverage its three core functions - information exchange, resource integration, and investment services, to support more Chinese enterprises in expanding into Zambia, while facilitating the entry of Zambia’s quality products into the Chinese market. This will truly realize “China-Zambia Cooperation for a Shared Prosperous Future".
As one of the most influential Chinese business associations in Zambia, CCCZ has long been committed to promoting economic/trade cooperation and cultural exchanges between China and Zambia, providing comprehensive services including policy advisory, market research, and project matchmaking for enterprises from both countries. In the future, the Chamber will continue to deepen cooperation with all sectors of China and Zambia, and promote the high-quality joint construction of the "Belt and Road" in Africa.
